For me at the end of the day, I wanted the CD, I wanted to hold it and read it as I listened. And, what a startlingly beautiful album! The opening couple of tracks are make an assault on your aural senses before calming into what is an eloquent subtle and truly melodic album. I love it! All these months later and I still go back to it. Selling In Rainbows in this way is an interesting one. For me at the end of the day, I wanted the CD, I wanted to hold it and read it as I listened. Being unemployed myself for over a year and having to deal with disdainful looks, criticism and even hurtful comments has taught me to not care what others think of me. Being a private school teacher for years I taught my daughter to *never* judge on appearance alone -- take the whole person into consideration. Character is much more important than looks. You blew me away -- your voice is truly blessed by God. What a talent! Wish I could email you personally!!! You are amazing! Goes to show -- no matter what your age NEVER stop dreaming!! I recognised the sound as I have seen Toto la Momposina in concert in Bogota with a full cumbia band and here in the UK with her smaller family band. This track follows in the footsteps of Heater by Samim which also samples a Colombian Cumbia tune: Cumbia Cienaguera by Alberto Pacheco from the Rough guide to Cumbia album.
